Home buyers Benefit from Home builder and Inspector Information Sharing
The Texas Association of Real Estate Inspectors (TAREI) is providing on-site education for Texas Real Estate Inspectors this January 20th & 21st.
While continuing to offer classroom instruction on how to protect clients by teaching the Art and Intricacies of Home Inspections, TAREI is now focused on bringing her members specialized instruction via on-site, field trip based instruction.
For the January 2012 TAREI conference this coming Friday and Saturday, Texas’ oldest trade organization is pleased to announce that the Van Delden Company will be offering classroom instruction followed by on-site instruction at their facility. This is an opportunity actually view the on-site sewage disposal systems and learn from one of the San Antonio area’s leading Septic Systems Companies.
In an effort to better educate Tradesmen, Suppliers, and Home Inspectors, Ryland Homes and Chesmar Homes, a couple of the better known San Antonio Home Builders, have opened their doors to the Home Inspection Industry. Continuing a tradition of fostering increased building knowledge and quality, these experienced home builders know that Independent Home Inspectors provide a valuable ‘extra set of eyes’. In addition, Custom Home Builders Tri-Built Custom Homes and Robare Custom Homes have opened their homes to the Inspection Industry.
To facilitate these endeavors, and to allow everyone to operate with the same knowledge base, understanding of products and their installation, several manufacturers, suppliers, and installers/tradesmen will donate their time and resources to help build quality homes while educating the Home Inspection Community.
Universal Forest Products’ San Antonio division is providing an education-based tour of their engineered products manufacturing plant for Inspectors to see first hand how the trusses are designed, manufactured, inspected for quality, etc. Following this, the folks at UFP will offer on-site instruction at some of the houses that Chesmar Homes and Ryland Homes have so graciously allowed the Inspectors to learn from.
Alamo Hy-Tech Foundation Repair Co. will perform a foundation lift while inspectors observe the pre-lift stress indicators, floor elevations, and the changes that occur during the foundation lift.
Warren Remmey of Spiderman Pest Control has agreed to lend his skills to other area Inspectors. Warren will be teaching via classroom instruction and on-site/field trip instruction on an historic home near downtown. Inspectors will learn from a Pro about conditions that are conducive to wood destroying insects and the proper way to inspect for these insects.
An Historic Home in the Monticello Park area has been made available for our on-site portion of Report Writing and Wood Destroying Insect inspections. This is a 72 year old home in the middle of being restored.
In addition, Window World in San Antonio and Viega LLC will be lending their expertise.
The winners in all this are the home buyers and homeowners that will benefit from the information exchange between the homebuilders, home inspectors, manufacturers and tradesmen.
